#23 Muji Candles

These two days the weather here has become a lil bit more chilly… It makes me turn to my scented Muji candles, which had been sitting collecting dust on the cabinet during the summer months. These 2 candle tins are gifts from a close friend of mine. She knows that (in winter) I always light up a candle as soon as I reach home. Well, (blushing :”>) I must confess that scented candles are addictive, especially good ones. They can easily brighten up my mood, bring me relaxation, and help me unwind in my alone time.

Muji candles are lovely, they are very affordable and have nice scents. My favourite from them is Berry Tart, sweet but very yummy & fruity… These ones I have here are Strawberry and Watermelon – the name is so summery; and Thai Orchid Breeze. The first one smells like strawberry jam with a fresh hint of watermelon, the scent is simple yet lovely. It isn’t sickly sweet but quite subtle… You can only realise the scent if you go out and reenter the room (or maybe because my room is too big for the candle to fill in its scent). The latter one is a bit ‘sour-er’ and strongly soapy, not my personal favourite! However it does add a nice scent to my bath time 😀

I’m not sure about the weight/oz of these candles but they last quite a long time. If every night I light one for 2 hours, it can last me up to 10 nights. On the tin the label writes ‘approx burn time: 18 hours’. The wax seems to be a good quality blend of vegetable oil & parafin – it’s very soft and smooth (I played with it once when I was bored :D). Both the wax and wick leave no black smoke when burning.

Some tips for burning your scented candles:

  • The first time you burn: burn for 2 hours straight or until the whole top is liquid with wax (for containers candles only)
  • After blowing out the candle, cover it with a lid to keep the room nicely-scented (without the residual smoky smell from the candle wick)
  • Trim the wick to about 0.5cm long before relighting the candle, it allows the candle to burn more slowly
  • BE CAREFUL: Never leave a lit candle unattended/Never move or tip a lit candle/Keep out of reach of children/Do not place the candle in a wind draught or directly on a glass or marble surface
